Who We Are

Thibi is a data and design consultancy that specialises in building interactive web-based data tools and visualizations. Our team has been active in Southeast Asia’s civic tech and open data community for many years, with extensive experience in data visualization, data-driven web development, and data literacy training. We have worked with organizations such as Thomson Reuters Foundation, Internews, Open Knowledge Foundation, and The Asia Foundation. Thibi is currently growing into a remote team of designers, developers and data experts based remotely across Southeast Asia.

The Role

The Junior Visual Designer will work closely with our Visual Lead and UX Designer to create visually appealing and impactful designs for both Thibi’s client projects and communication media. For client projects, you will shape the UI design and create the visual assets of our digital products ranging from web and mobile applications, analytics dashboards to data portals and visualizations. You will also develop the graphics for communication media such as social media posts and posters that follow brand guidelines. The ideal candidate will be a versatile UI and graphic designer with 2-3 years of experience in digital product development and/or a creative agency.

The Responsibilities

50% - UI design

  • Collaborate with the internal team on project briefings, brainstorming sessions, and check-ins
  • Collaborate with the Thibi team and partner organisations to participate in design sprints, help conduct user research and user testing
  • Draft wireframes and screens
  • Design icons and buttons
  • Build clickable prototypes
  • Establish the visual branding (colors, typography, imagery)
  • Create other visual elements as needed (e.g., illustrations, logos)

30% - Graphic design

  • Create visuals for social media posts
  • Design layouts and visuals for other communication materials (banners, posters, business cards, branded merchandise, etc.) 
  • Develop visual templates (documents, slides)

20% - Product testing and reviewing

  • Conduct visual quality checks on all Thibi products
  • Review all communication materials to make sure they follow brand guidelines
  • Provide feedback to the internal team

Must Have Skills

  • Excellent eye for visual design
  • Demonstrable UI design skills
  • We require you to send a portfolio that showcases good knowledge of UI design and mockups for digital products. 
  • Proficiency in Figma or similar UI prototyping tool
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Proficiency in spoken and written communication in English

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign
  • Interest in data visualizations and design
  • Experience with Flourish and Datawrapper
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Mural, Miro or other collaborative whiteboard tools

The Details

This is a fully remote, full-time position requiring 40 hours of work per week.  Thibi can provide office space in Yangon.
